About Exploring
The Mission of the Edison Police Explorers
The mission of the Edison Police Explorer Program is to develop responsible, educated, and capable youth in our community. The Post will provide training and skills that can be utilized not only in a future career in law enforcement, but in many aspects of adult life. Through involvement in our program Explorers will be made aware of the challenges and dangers of law enforcement Officers in todays fight against crime. Utilizing the acquired knowledge our Explorers will productively serve the community with honor and integrity, which will reflect positively on the Township of Edison. Our goals are to increase police support in our community and prepare future Officers.
What is Exploring?
Law Enforcement Exploring is the preeminent career orientation and experience program for young people contemplating a career in the field of criminal justice. It began in 1983 as part of the Scouts of America to fully immerse a youth into a field such as Law Enforcement, Military, or Fire. It's mission is to offer young adults, ages 14-21, interested in that field a personal awareness of the ins and outs through training, practical experiences and other activities. As a Law Enforcement focused Explorer Program we try our very best to have the youth experience what it is to be a Law Enforcement Officer in the 21 century.
